Lindsay, thank you for continuing to provide sober analysis even though the entire team (outside of Schwellenbach and most of the bullpen) probably is not worthy of it. Here's to hoping they can get a win and finally get that monkey off of their back and start playing like the team we all believe and expect them to be.
I hope so, too! I've lost a few paid subscribers since the season started because they're fed up with the team, so it's both a personal rooting interest and now, for some reason, a money thing for me.
Thanks for the level headed breakdown. I’m with you on the Profar front. Why keep giving reps to a guy who won’t be there in October? Sure, he could help get us there, but based on what we’ve seen so far, that feels like a long shot.
I’m glad Uncle Jesse is back. I don’t expect brilliance every outing, but I do hope he can hang his hat up proud when the season ends.
The IL stints from López last year should’ve been a sign. I don’t know what the thought process was behind building this rotation, but it feels like those meetings either didn’t happen or no one spoke up. Elder would need a miracle to take a step forward, and AJ still looks like a deer in the headlights. That being said, I’m glad there are still 157 games left. I really hope they prove me wrong.
Starting 0-5 with little urgency or fight is hard to stomach. Some of these guys just don’t look like they want it, and Snit’s passive approach isn’t exactly lighting a fire under anyone.
I’m not giving up on the season, and I’m definitely not turning on the team. But we’ve seen this movie before. It doesn’t get better unless something changes and soon.
(Sorry, typing error). We’re dealing with a very small sample size in 2025 season, but the offensive production is an ongoing issue from a much larger sample size - all of 2024. I was expecting (hoping) a move towards a mean of the 2023 & 2024 seasons for the offense. I’m now very concerned that isn’t going to happen. Why? Analytics can provide some insights, but I’m concerned it’s a unknowable & unmeasurable issue. The current roster is made up of quality major leaguers signed to long term deals. This seems like great strategy that provides economic stability for the team and lifetime financial security for the players and their families. Has this approach eliminated the incremental motivation to go beyond being a good major leaguer to being a champion?
There was comments made by Kevin Seitzer that was along the lines of “it was all mental and nothing mechanical would fix it”. Some sort of poisoning perception that each player had to be a game winner at every AB.
Is it a lack of clubhouse leadership? I spoke to Peter Moylan when he was managing Melbourne here in our ABL season and there was a feeling along those lines. Too many cooks not a clear chef?
I'd argue that it's almost the opposite - everyone left that wasn't on a MASH unit thinking they needed to step up and be *the guy* offensively. I can see the other side, though - they haven't had that vocal leader since Freddie and Dansby left in successive offseasons, and losing TDA and Fried this offseason didn't help things
Now feels like a good opportunity to take some time off from Braves baseball and come back on Friday when they are home with the Marlins. Let's just hope they don't come close to that 2016 start of 0-9.
I am sadly a sicko Braves fan where I spend way to much time rooting for them. This season does have this errie weird feeling like a season we have not seen in a long long time. It is a weird kinda fun, but yeah I know the frustration will get here soon enough.
I like Verdugo to stick - he's the rental, so if he and Kelenic are roughly equal, getting Kelenic everyday ABs in Gwinnett is the move
I'm a believer in AJSS, so yes. All comes down to being able to both control his emotions when things go wrong and control his stuff enough to hit his spots
