As a lefty batter Baldwin could work nicely into a platoon going forward. But you don't put a $15 million a year former all-star in a weak side platoon role. Murphy's present status reminds me of where we were a few years ago with Marcell Ozuna. Too good to dump, despite problems. Time to let him build up his trade value to the max -- then, as it turns out keep him if he builds it high enough. Ironically, if both Baldwin and Murphy hit maximum expectations, it could be Ozuna's eventual contract expiration which opens up playing time for both.

Yeah, I've been saying for a while that the best option here for Baldwin was to get in a bunch of games as a DH in that old William Contreras role - barring something miraculous, I expect Atlanta to make that move in 2026 after Ozuna is done

How is it possible we have waited so long for Angel Perdomo—-and then the dump over the Braves B squad known as the Angels? Is it because they will be bringing up so many pitching prospects from Aaa and AA—they don’t have time for Angel to be the long man or so till he gets his velocity back? We have been waiting for so long and now this …uggh. I really wanted him to work out. Great write up about Baldwin.

I was very surprised when the trade came across the wire, too. My only guess is they decided that his stuff wasn't at the point of making the pen and rather than just flush that sunk cost of his salaries down the drain, they decided to get something out of it.

(At the same time, I can't remember the last time we actually got a player in a PTBNL or cash considerations deal)

He's out of options and the Braves must have felt he needed to pitch in MLB for awhile, perhaps a full season, before getting to his top form. I wish Perdomo well. The Braves can't afford to lose a single extra game to high level rehab this year, but the Angels can. So Perry Minasian and our old pal Wash owe us one. Literally. It's good to build positive mutually beneficial relationships with trading partners, especially those we know and like.

All true and I agree. I am speaking of the heart breaking aspect that Angel P. has 5 years of team control left and he K'd an incredibly high percentage. He has so much promise and he could have started the year on the il and then came along. I understand the Braves know way more, but it has been an arm i have been dreaming on for parts of two years and I don't get to see him try in a Braves uni. So bascially a whine and a woulda coulda shoula tyoe thing. Yeah Perry and AA still seem to be close...look at David Flecher in AA--who will be up this year and dominate!!! He will be the game 3 starter in the world series!!! or not. Thanks Perry.
