Those comments by Snit, doubling down on keeping Ozuna in the lineup, showed us why he shouldn't continue managing after this year.
He insists on making present decisions hoping for the past to make a comeback. Yes it worked in 2023, but it's not the same scenario. In 2023, the rest of the offense wasn't struggling like it is now. In 2023 the Braves were not in the deep hole they are are now. In 2023, Ozuna was one or two games away from being DFAd. The Braves can't afford to give him the same rope. Specially not when you have a guy in the bench who's giving you the offense you desperately need.
We'll have to hope that AA can save Snit from himself...or at least save the Braves from Snit regarding this decision.
I believe giving Ozuna an IL stint is warranted. Snit could be the manager next year, but some kind of president of minor league relations sounds so much better. It would be nice to give Snit the 50th year in the organization a nice lite victory tour kind of 'duty.' I am not sure there is much to sell at the deadline. I do not believe AA will sell any of the long term contracts or any relievers who signed as a free agent with a year or so left. Dumping Iggy or expiring reliever, maybe? I think the only importance of this stance of "selling" is to make it official the Braves will not lose prospects chasing after a lost season. Ahhhh they drop a coupe of relievers at the deadline and bring Harris and Laura come up. The inevitable winning streak (20 plus) of course happens and we get in the playoffs and win the WS for Snit, got it!
Paradoxically: Nothing TO sell; Nothing we want to sell.

It's incredibly frustrating, that's for sure
